Casino of Lugano, popularly called Casinò Lugano or Teatro Kursaal is the one and only dazzling architectural beauty standing on the lakefront right in the center of the city of Lugano, Switzerland. It is also by far my favorite casino in Switzerland. The casino’s eye-catching beauty is a result of 1804 architectural design by the popular Italian architect Achille Sfondrini and it is one of the very few places in Italy that many people have on the list of places to see before they die.
The casino itself acquired a license in 1912 but since then there have been changes in the name, management and games and services offered to the patrons. The entire ground floor of the casino is dedicated to slot machines and is a non-smoking area, you can get to the casino and enjoy fresh lake-side breeze while playing on any of the 239 slot machines or playing horses if that is what you are into.
The casino, just like the rest of the city and actually the entire Italy is decorated predominantly with red, but in a wide range of shades.
