If you play poker or read about roulette long enough, one of the first strange terms you will come across that everyone will seem to use it like it’s no big deal is the Martingale Betting System or often just Martingale.  Roulette is a game of chance where your winnings will largely depend on your luck, but if you are among the few that have discovered the secret to tilting the odds in your favor then the Martingale system is one of the strategies you could use.

The Martingale system, simply put, is increasing your bet amount every time you lose.  This is a ‘negative progression’ system strategy that does not really change the gameplay per se but constantly involves upping the ante in the hope of winning.  Here is an example.  When playing the roulette, if your objective is to win $1 in a hand, you bet $1 and win it back, but if you lose, you double the bet amount to $2 then play again.  If you win, you will have won the $1 you wanted and won back the $1 you lost.  However, if you lose again, you play $3 and so on.

Martingale Betting System

The Martingale Roulette winning strategy is pretty much the only strategy you can apply in this game, so if you have heard of a gambler talking of ‘an effective’ and ‘unbeatable’ or ‘proven’ technique to win back loses, it is most likely the Martingale system they are referring to.  This is basically a game plan to chase your loses till you get your winnings or playing till you have nothing left.  This strategy is most effective when placing small bets such as $1 to $10 and have some time to play the game, it may not be good if you want to be a millionaire within the day.
